Ensuring safe, reliable, and resilient water supply and wasterwater services is critical for public health and safety, as well as environmental protection worldwide. Water sector professionals are the most important people in cities; without them, cities could not survive for more than three days. Therefore it is essential for every representative and stakeholder in the water sector to be aware of changes and developments in the industry, innovations, and potential challenges. Especially in today’s turbulent times. There is no life without water.

The Baltic Water Works Conference brings together decision-makers, utility leaders, engineers, researchers, policy experts, and technology providers from across the Baltic states and Europe to exchange knowledge, share innovations, and build strategic partnerships in water management. With more than 200 participants from the Baltic region and beyond, BWWC is the leading water sector event in the Baltics and a key meeting point for professionals shaping the future of water management.

From May 28 to 30, Tallinn, Estonia, hosted the most important regional conference on water management – the Baltic Water Works Conference 2025. This year, it brought together not only more than 200 industry professionals from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, but also from the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Finland, Ukraine, and Denmark.

The conference was opened by Andres Suts, Minister of Energy and Environment of the Republic of Estonia, followed by speeches from the presidents of the water management associations of all three Baltic countries – Andres Aruhein (Estonian Waterworks Association), Bronius Miežutavičius (Lithuanian Association of Water Suppliers) and Dace Šveide (Latvia Water and Wastewater Works Association).

D. Šveide: “Today, we are coming together not only as engineers, scientists, development planners, and policymakers, but also as heroes who bring life to cities. Let us use this platform to raise the prestige of our profession, inspire the next generation, and remind the world that at the heart of every city’s development are the people who manage its water and sewage systems. We are the most important people in the city! Let’s make this conference unforgettable!”

Last year’s water works conference focused on water management sector reform and the continuity of water management services, energy neutrality in the water management sector, research and development news in Europe, as well as security and cyber security.

All in all, it was three days full of meaningful discussions, inspiring presentations, and valuable networking opportunities!

Throughout the day, conference rooms and corridors hosted an exhibition where visitors could see and touch products and services offered by companies related to the water management sector. On May 29-31, the Baltic Water Works Conference 2024 took place in Palanga, Lithuania. Latvia Water and Wastewater Works Association (LWWWWA) in cooperation with The Estonian Waterworks Association (EVEL) and the Lithuanian Association of Water Suppliers (LVTA) gathered more than 200 participants from water management companies of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Great Britain, Finland, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. The aim of the BWWC 2024 was to find innovative ideas in a complex world of water and take a look to sustainability, ecology and science insights in water sector.

At the beginning of the conference, all participants were welcomed by the Minister of the Environment of Lithuania Simonas Gentvilas. The conference  was oficially opened by the Palanga city Vicemayor Rimantas Antanas Mikalkėnas, the CEO of the LWWWWA Sandis Dejus, the president of the LVTA Bronius Miežutavičius, and the president of the EVEL Andres Aruhein, as well as the representative of the Association of the Ukrainain Vodokanals Yurii Zherlitsyn.

After the opening ceremony, the 1st part of the conference “Finding innovative ideas in a complex world of water” begun.

The 2nd part of the conference was dedicated to opportunity insights.

At the end of the conference, the audience was introduced to sustainability, ecology and science insights.

On May 17-19, the Baltic Water Works Conference 2023 took place in Jurmala. Latvia Water and Wastewater Works Association (LWWWWA) in cooperation with The Estonian Waterworks Association (EVEL) and the Lithuanian Association of Water Suppliers (LVTA) gathered more than 200 participants from water management companies of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Great Britain, Finland, and Denmark. The aim of the BWWC 2023 was to learn about the current events and good practices in the sector, as well as to promote cooperation in solving problems.

The conference was opened by the Jurmala city mayor Rita Sproģe, the CEO of  the LWWWWA Sandis Dejus, the president of the LVTA Bronius Miežutavičius, and the president of the EVEL Andres Aruhein, as well as the representative of the Association of the Ukrainain Vodokanals Yurii Zherlitsyn.

After the opening ceremony, the 1st part of the conference “Sewage sludge management” begun.

The 2nd part of the conference was dedicated to continuity of water management services in emergencies.

At the end of the conference, the audience was introduced to the industry news.

In addition, throughout the day, conference participants had the opportunity to explore industry news at a special conference partner exhibition.
